Thailand Business & Leisure

Thailand trip.

Just got back from Bangkok. Business and leisure trip. Arrived on Sat morning with Eugene, my Marketing Director, he took the opportunity to tag along with me since im visiting 2 Japanese companies, Pigeon Corp & Asahii Intecc. I think its my 6th time in thailand so its not that exciting, but i needed a break from work. The moment we landed, Eugene hooked up with he's friend Francis and off he went for a game of golf, so bloodly hot there, wonder how can they take it, but then again...for the love of the game, anything goes.

Met a lady from Singapore at the airport, Stephanie from Refco, a futures trading co. We were the only 2 on transit to the hotel and so we chatted. Apparantly, she's there for a holiday and o meet up with some pals of hers for shopping, said she frequent Bangkok all the time coz its the nearest and cheapest getaway from singapore. i dropped off at Holiday Inn and she went on her way, she actually offered to meet up for drinks that night with some of her friends but i already had plans with Eugene to meet up with some pple.

Checked in the hotel and i was on my way to Chachuchat market. The heat there is scorching and so the shorts and Ts. Half a day there is definately not enough!...

Had lunch there, the beef noodles is excellent and obviously underpriced. Lots of tourist there too. Coincidentally, I bumped into Pamela and her European bf there, both were on holiday .

bought some clothes, wooden hand-made cutlery set, liverpool posters for the fans back home , candelsand a signboard etc. There's really too much hings to buy, but too little space in the luggage.

Weapons?...

Pets?...pups are 2000Bht and Kitties are 1500Bht...

Check out the 'balls'....

They sell pups like nobody's business there, its cash & carry, no registrations, certs , no nothing..probably give you a plastic bag...

Bunnies are 100-200Bht each...about $4-$8...

Enough of shopping for the day...back to the hotel....

Met Eugene for dinner and Francis at a Club..those massage parlours...1st time to those really posh clubs with ladies serving you and all, all kinds of services from traditional massages..foot massages and you know....Anyway, met up with a group of S'porean/Thai businessman for drinks at another restaurant...They were in the construction business...real estate and lightning industry, seems really sucessful in thailand. There's loads of clubs at every street corned in Bangkok and they all look European, didnt feel like asia, the place has changed so much since the last time i was there...

Checked in to the ShangriLa on Sunday..and this is what I got...

And the view!....

I've got the top floor suite, which was actually not meant for me but because i was late to check in and they ran out of the deluxe suite, so i got upgraded..muahaha...

No time for a dip though...

Welcome dinner by the Director of Sales of Nomura, the investor relations for the 2 companies that i was going to visit the next day, among the other fund managers was this big guy from Temasek , Director of Investments, the CEO of Stork Asset Management, Jay, and Vinson from Phillips Capital. After the sumptous dinner, Jay, Vinson and I headed for Patpong night market. Vinson was totally thrilld by the Tutu, 1st time in thailand..seems so swahku..hehe

Like any other night market in Asia, all fakes!
Vinson manage to get a Rolex for a bargain....

Picked up a couple of shirts, Ts and ties from there.

Was a good trip.
